Fall 2019 exhibition features rare and one-of-a-kind items ranging from handwritten notes to personal snapshots to a clipping of Allen Ginsberg’s beard. In addition to the major Beat authors and visual artists associated with the movement from the 1940s and 1950s, the exhibition also examines musicians, artists and activists from the 1960s whose personal and artistic ties to the Beats provided the inspiration to open up new spaces for creative freedom and political dissent.
